The paper shows, in a simple and comprehensive way, the (energetic) advantages of reactive distillation over a process comprising a reader and a distillation unit including a recycle stream for unconverted reactant. The reader + distillation column was optimized with reaped to reboiler energy consumption via the recycle and reflux ratio.
