Preparation of a Polypropylene Adsorbent for the Separation of Uranium by a Radiation-Induced Grafting Technique
The grafting of acrylonitrile(AN), acrylic acid(AAc), Methacrylic acid(MAc) on Polypropylene(PP) fabric was carried out by a γ-ray irradiation grafting technique. The grafting yield was affected by the radiation dose, the amount of Mohr's salt and sulfuric acid, and the monomer feed ratio. The chelating PP adsorbents with an amidoxim group were prepared by an amidoximation reaction with the grafted PP. The synthesis of grafted PP fabric was evidenced by a band of the -C=N and -C=O absorption peaks at 2250cm-1 and 1700cm-1, and aamidoxumation was evidenced by a band of the -OH and -NH2 peak at 3450cm-1 on the FT-IR spectrum.
