The catalytic properties of acids and metal compounds in oxidation of sulfides in lube oil cuts of medium-sulfur crude oil by organic hydroperoxides are examined. Comparative data are reported on the effectiveness of these catalysts in the process. The activity of the catalysts was compared with respect to the depth and selectivity of conversion of sulfides into sulfoxides.
