Monodispersed W/O emulsion prepared by hydrophilic ceramic membrane emulsification
Monodispersed W/O emulsions were prepared by an integrated ceramic membrane emulsification system. Kerosene was used as the continuous phase and water was used as the dispersed phase. By adding a cationic surfactant into the dispersed phase, the hydrophilic ceramic membrane can be directly used as the emulsification medium for the preparation of monodispersed W/O emulsions. Monodispersed W/O emulsion with a droplet size of 1-2 mu m was obtained by use of a ZrO2 ceramic membrane with a nominal pore size of 0.16 pm under a pressure of 0.1 MPa and a stirring speed of 490 rpm. The flux of the dispersed phase was 140.6 L-m(-2)-h(-1) and the energy density was 5.63 x 10(5) j(.)m(-3).
