Ion exchange membrane modification by weak electrolytes and glycine: reduction and elimination of the concentration polarization plateau in electrodialysis
The problematic polarization plateau in electrodialysis is simply reduced and then eliminated by a weak electrolyte addition, which modifies deeply the membrane behavior: we obtain a new membrane without polarization. This extraordinary result permits also to explain classical problems in electrodialysis, particularly the origin of the overlimiting current in the cation exchange membrane.
