Estimated Calculation of Conversion Degree in Catalyst Bed Levels
E-mail:
Opportunities for increasing production depend very much on the reaction conversion rates (reaction kinetics and the catalyst used), and selectivity. This paper presents a study on mathematically calculating the degree of conversion regarding successive catalyst bed levels. If the amount fraction change of the key components are known then the ratio of the reacted amount fractions can be calculated between the catalyst bed levels and their degrees of conversion. Calculating the degree of conversion in the catalyst was tested in the case of a steam reforming reactor which produces synthesis gas for methanol production. In this case study, the calculation is in relatively good agreement with the leave experimental measurements of an existing methanol production plant.
