Assembly of metallic carbon nanodots aligned on a vicinal Si(111)-7x7 surface
We report the assembly of carbon nanodots aligned on the sharp step edges of Si(111)-7x7 reconstruction surface. The self-assembled and well-aligned pyramid-like carbon nanodot array performs metallic transport behavior on the p-type silicon substrate and can be erased from the step edges by flash heating at similar to 900 degrees C. The carbon nanodot array has some potential applications for single electron transistors and bionanosensors.
