Fundamentals and Applications - The Difficult Relationship Between Research, Development, and Politics
The modern world is the product of the scientific and technical mind. Science and technology in the tradition of the schools and the workshops. respectively, came together at the beginning of this modern world, and their increasing interdependence has essentially determined its more recent developments. Technology is no longer merely applied science, and science itself moves forward in the form of technology. At the same time pure basic research, application-oriented basic research, and product-oriented applied research form a research continuum. Against the background of this continuum, growing demands are placed on a new kind of transdisciplinarity and on the responsibilities of science and technology for the future of a "Leonardo World".
