Mass, velocity and angular distributions of the species ejected from laser ablation of LiCoO2
Mass, velocity and angle distributions of the ablated species generated from 355 nm pulsed laser ablation (PLA) of a LiCoO2 target were investigated with an angle- and time-resolved quadrupole mass spectrometric technique. The observed neutral and ionic ablated species include Li, Co, LiO, CoO, LiO2, CoO2, and clusters L-4, Li2O, Li5O. The kinetic energies of Li, Co and LiO ions are independent of the laser fluence. The angular distributions of the ablated species can be simulated by a cos " theta or a bicosine function alpha cos theta + (1 - alpha) cos(n) theta, respectively.
