Manipulation of single-wall carbon nanotubes into aligned molecular layers
Single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have been deposited onto uniform molecular films. The Langmuir-Blodgett method was used to manipulate SWCNTs at controlled thickness by means of layer-by-layer deposition. The properties of the SWCNT molecular films were investigated using UV-visible to near infrared absorption spectra and quartz crystal micro-balance (QCM). AFM observations and polarized Raman spectra indicated that the SWCNTs in the films are aligned to some extent in the dipping direction. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
