Tautomeric equilibrium and hydroxyl group internal rotation in 4-hydroxypyridine
The rotational spectrum of 4-hydroxypyridine has been investigated by free jet absorption millimeter-wave spectroscopy. Only the enolic form is observed. All transitions are split into two component lines due to the internal rotation of the hydroxyl group. From the ground state splitting (Delta E = 7.97(4) MHz) the barrier to internal rotation V-2 = 1513(10) cm(-1) has been obtained. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
