Dipole-quadrupole- and dipole-octopole polarizability of Sn(CH3)(4): Experiment and bond polarizability model
We studied the collision-induced light scattering spectrum of tetramethyltin, Sn(CH3)(4), in the gas phase. The spectra are analyzed in view of the dipole-quadrupole (A) and dipole-octopole polarizability (E) giving vertical bar A vertical bar = 149(5) an and vertical bar E vertical bar = 780(200) au. We show that these experimental results are in reasonable agreement with bond-polarizability considerations. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
