We have demonstrated a new type of cis-trans isomerization of azobenzene in the complex LB films of amphiphilic azobenzene and polyviologen. This was accompanied by the changes in the orientation and the electronic stale of azobenzene. The molecular orientation of azobenzene can be controlled by cia-trans photoisomerization.
