Two-dimensional molecular imprinting: Binding of sugars to boronic acid functionalized, polymerized Langmuir-Blodgett films
A molecular imprinted surface was prepared by polymerizing the Langmuir film of a mixture of two polymerizable amphiphiles, one of which has a boronic acid stoup as a binding site for a template molecule, 4-nitrophenyl alpha -D-mannopyranoside (3), dissolved in the aqueous subphase. The imprinted surface exhibited an improved affinity (35%) for the template molecule 3 in 2-butanone compared with the non-imprinted surface.
