The [4+2]cycloaddition of 2,3-dimethylbutadiene to the diselenido ligand in the dicationic dinuclear ruthenium complexes
The dicationic diselenido-bridged dinuclear ruthenium complexes, [{Ru(P(OCH3)(3))(2)(RCN) }(2)(mu -Se-2)(mu -Cl)(2)](2+) (2: R = CH3, 3: R = C6H5) were prepared by the reactions of [{Ru(P(OCH3)(3))(2)Cl} (2)(mu -Se-2)(mu -Cl)(2)] (1) with 2 equiv of Ag(I) salt under the presence of corresponding nitrile. Complexes 2 and 3 were trapped by 2,3-dimethylbutadiene to give [{Ru(P(OCH3)(3))(2)(RCN)}(2){ mu -SeCH2C(CH3)=C(CH3)CH2Se}(mu -Cl)(2)](2+) (4: R = CH3, 5: R = C6H5) carrying a C4Se2 six-membered ring.
