Kinetic evidence for the hydrophobic atmosphere of the catalytic cavity in carboxypeptidase Y based on a linear relationship between Michaelis-Menten constant K-m and hydrophobicity of the substrates
In the hydrolysis of several dipeptides by carboxypeptidase-Y (CPD-Y), there was found a good linear relationship (r = 0.999) between Michaelis-Menten constant K-m and hydrophobicity of the substrates evaluated as relative elution volume in reversed-phase HPLC.
