Low temperature synthesis and characterization of cubic CaB6 ultrafine powders
Ultrafine calcium hexaboride (CaB6) powder was successfully synthesized at 500degreesC in an autoclave by using CaCl2 and NaBH4 as the reactants. X-ray powder diffraction pattern and Raman spectra indicate the formation of CaB6. The atomic ratio of B to C of 5.91:1.0 was determined from X-ray photoelectron spectra.
