alpha-Diazoketones underwent insertion smoothly with sodium azide and potassium thiocyanate in the presence of CeCl3.7H(2)O under mild reaction conditions to afford the corresponding alpha-azidoketones and alpha-ketothiocyanates in excellent yields.
