EXPERIMENTAL-DETERMINATION AND MATHEMATIC MODELING OF SINGLE AND BINARY MIXTURE ISOTHERMS
Pure-gas adsorption isotherms and equilibrium data for binary mixtures have been determined for CO2, CO, CH4, C2H6 and C3H8 on activated charcoal AS-0 at 293 K, 313 K and 333 K up to pressures of 500 kPa. The binary data were analysed using the IAS (Ideal Adsorbed Solution) theory and the VSM (Vacance Solution Model). The binary gases with the components CO2, C2H6 and C3H8 respectively exhibited nonideal behaviour. The VSM was optimized under including of experimental data of binary mixtures. Parameters determined in this way allow for the calculation of all adsorption equilibrium data over the measuring range, which in turn may be useful in the prediction of multicomponent data.
