Decomposition of H2O2 using ion exchange resin with a spacer containing alpha-nitroso-beta-naphthol as a functional group
Catalytic activity of some transition metal complexes derived from crosslinked styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer with spacer containing alpha-nitroso-beta-naphthol as a functional group (Ps-ANBN) have been used for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The decomposition of H2O2 was investigated by measuring evolution of oxygen at different time intervals. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters have been evaluated. Various metal complexes were used to study the effect of the nature of metal ion on decomposition of H2O2. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been used to study the morphological variation between Ps-ANBN and Ps-ANBN-Cu-II. The Ps-ANBN-Cu-II is found to be thermodynamically more stable than Ps-ANBN.
