Vanadyl triflate has been found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst for chemoselective protection of aldehydes. Some of the major advantages of this method are high chemoselectivity, ease of operation, short reaction times, high yields, and compatibility with protecting groups. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
