NCS, natural color system - From concept to research and applications .2.
In this second part, certain attributes and applications of the NCS are described. The color discriminative visual parameter of visual lightness is defined, and an equation is introduced derived from empirical data that operationally define distinctness of border (GT) as an expression of contrast and visual legibility. A model is proposed for a subdivision of the space into segments showing perceptually character-like color categories, within each of which, all colors share the characteristic of having the same elementary colors as main attributes and the same secondary attributes. Further is discussed, the probability of the perceptual existence of what is called binary attributes, referring to color percepts in which the qualities are represented by the simultaneous perception of two elementary attributes (as in grey).
