The glass transition temperature and the interaction parameter, χ, for poly(vinyl chloride) plasticized with tributylphosphate have been determined over a wide concentration range. The classical iso-free volume theory of the glass transition fails to explain the experimental results. Consideration of Kovacs'' modified iso-free volume theory with the addition to the froe volume of an excess volume of mixing bused on the χ parameter suitably rationalizes the experimental values.
