Crystal growth of congruent barium calcium titanate by LHPG
Barium calcium titanate (Ba1-xCaxTiO3) crystal in the congruent composition Ba0.77Ca0.23TiO3 (BCT) was grown directly from starting reagents by the LHPG technique. An optical quality BCT single crystal fiber was grown by controlling the molten zone composition and crystal diameter. The optical absorption and structural properties were characterized in as-grown crystals. Stable growth conditions have been determined for the pulling rate up to 0.35 mm/min. The growth process of this material under the adopted conditions is analyzed from differential thermal analysis and thermodynamics theory.
