Growth and characterisation of a new promising NLO mixed borate crystal
The growth of mixed crystals of barium lead borate using slow evaporation technique is reported for the first time. Good quality crystals up to a size of 15 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm are obtained. These crystals show good second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency. Single crystals of barium lead borate is a promising nonlinear optical crystal which can be possibly used for fabrication of photonic devices. The grown crystals are characterized by employing UV-VIS spectrum, powder XRD, AAS and microhardness measurements. SHG efficiency is measured from Kurtz's powder technique using Nd-YAG laser.
