Behaviors of trace amounts of metal-fluoride impurities in CaF2 single-crystal grown by Stockbarger's method
The concentrations and distribution of the trace amounts of metal-fluoride impurities in CaF2 single-crystals grown by the Stockbarger method from CaF2 powder and fourteen kinds of metal-fluoride additives were examined. In the resulting CaF2 single-crystals, the PbF2, LiF, NaF, CrF3, FeF3, NiF2 and CuF2 impurities hardly remained, but the (3) remained, AIF(3), MgF2, BaF2 and SrF2 impurities remarkably remained. Among rare-earth fluoride impurities, LaF3 but YF3 and CeF3 hardly remained. The segregation behaviors of the MaF(2), BaF2, NaF and CrF3 impurities occurred in the top part of the CaF2 single-crystals. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
