Growth and up-conversion emission of Er3+/Yb3+-codoped LiGd(MoO4)(2) crystal
Er3+/Yb3+:LiGd(MoO4)(2) crystal with a size up to phi 20 x 34 mm(3) was grown by the Czochralski method. The hardness of Er3+ /Yb3+:LiGd(MoO4)(2) crystal is 369.1 VDH and has about 5.0 ohm. The green and red lights were firstly observed by naked eyes. Crystal was excited with a LD of pump power about 50 mW at room temperature. The strong up-conversion emission band is observed at 520-560 nm at room temperature. The weak up-conversion bands are observed at 490 and 645-675 nm. In addition to these emission bands, down-conversion Yb3+ and Er3+ emission bands are simultaneously observed at 900-1050 nm and 1470-1630 nm, respectively. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
