The search for new electron acceptors and electron donors can be facilitated by the use of semiempirical calculations. Here, in a combined experimental and theoretical study the first twin-DCNQI-type acceptor is synthesized (see Fig.) and characterized and calculations are used to assess the structural features which should lead to the desired properties.
