Research News: Controlled drug release- and targeted drug delivery sq stems based on polymers are reviewed. The design of polymer-drug systems, for example the one shown in the Figure, which contains a solubilizer, the drug linked to the backbone through a spacer, and a targeting moiety for guiding the drug to the desired site, and the factors which influence their effectiveness are discussed.
