MOLECULAR ARRANGEMENT AND THERMAL REORGANIZATION OF MEROCYANINE J-AGGREGATE MONOLAYERS ON SOLID SUBSTRATES
Amphiphilic merocyanine dyes form J-aggregates at the air-water interface. For any application the thermal behavior of the monolayers is an important issue and thermally induced phase transitions in monolayers have been intensively studied. Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of two merocyanine dyes mixed with matrix molecules (see figure) have been examined and the optimization of the thermal stability of such systems discussed.
