The technology trends parallel the demands of the marketplace as well as the demands of manufacturing The authors present the changes both in the processing methods and in the backbone of the polyimides-for example, higher molecular weight, new substituents, and new ring formations-that led to improvements to the electrical, optical, and chemical properties of the polyimide films.
