A new method for producing well-defined porous materials by templating scCO(2) emulsions is revealed here. The technique involves forming a high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) and locking in the structure of the "external" phase. By this method it is also possible to produce templated, crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) materials (see Figure and also inside front cover).
