Direct, mask- and solvent-free printing of molecular organic semiconductors
Molecular organic semiconductors have been printed (see Figure and cover) using direct, mask- and solvent-free printing via microscopic sonic jets of hot nitrogen seeded with the vapor of the organic semiconductor. Ultrahigh deposition rates, pattern resolution of up to 1000 dpi, and a high-performance pentacene thin-film transistor (TFT) are demonstrated. The theory, simulation, and experiments of this new method-organic vapor jet printing-are discussed.
