Prediction of flux decline in membrane systems due to particulate fouling
Particulate fouling due to the deposition of suspended matter, colloids, and microorganisms is a persistent problem in membrane filtration causing flux decline. Currently no quality parameter exists by which flux decline in a membrane filtration system can be accurately predicted for feed water. This research reports on developments of the Modified Fouling Index using ultrafiltration modules as a water quality indicator and to predict flux decline occurring in membrane filtration installations.
