A cold plasma generator and its applications to combinatorial copolymerization of carbon dioxide with organic molecules
As an energy minimum process for CO2 fixation, we propose the reaction Of CO2 with a hydrocarbon excited by our originally designed plasma reactor. In this reactor, the CO2/hydrocarbon ratio and pulsed plasma mode can be changed combinatorially to produce plasma copolymers under sequentially controlled conditions. The presence of C=O double bonds in the FT-IR spectra of the insoluble films confirmed that CO2 has actually been incorporated into the plasma polymerized products.
