The desalination plants of Oman: past, present and future
Since the Renaissance of the Sultanate of Oman in the early seventies, there has been continuous development in all fields. Oman is located in an arid region with limited ground water resources. Thus to meet the growing demand for potable water, large and small brackish and seawater desalination units have been installed in different parts of the country. This paper describes our experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of desalination plants of different types in the Sultanate of Oman and presents likely future developments to advance technology in this field.
