A hybrid membrane process for Cu(II) removal from industrial wastewater - Comparison with a conventional process system
Legislation is becoming more rigorous for industrial fluid wastes, which encourages many industries to find proper solution to their effluent problems and to include wastewater treatment in their process. This paper focuses on the effluents containing metallic compounds as Cu(II). The aim of this paper is to propose and to discuss the interest of a new hybrid process to be included in a complete treatment line for removing metallic compounds. This process consists in a membrane reactor using fine adsorbent ion exchange particles with high specific area. The advantages of MR over a conventional fixed bed ion exchanger are introduced. Simulation of different MR configurations allows determining the operating conditions to reach water quality criteria.
