Electrochemical-Behavior of Nico2-Xrhxo4 Spinel System
The effect of the rhodium content of the electrochemical behaviour of electrodes with nominal composition NiCo2-xRhxO4 (O less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.5), was investigated. The electrodes were prepared by thermal decomposition on a nickel mesh support at 500 degrees C and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, SEM and BET surface area measurements. The electrochemical behaviour was studied by cyclic voltammetry in 5 mol dm(-3) KOH aqueous solution at room temperature. An estimation of the electrode’s capacity has been worked out from the charging currents. From steady-state measurements Tafel slopes for oxygen evolution were determined and a two Tafel slope mechanism was observed. The analysis of the results reveal that the Ph has no appreciable influence on the values of the Tafel slopes.
