Suppression of Oxygen Evolution on Polyveratrole Modified Electrode
Polyveratrole forms deposits on a platinum surface when 1,2-dimethoxy-benzene (veratrole) is electrochemically oxidized in CH3CN/Bu(4)NBF(4). Formation of a bilayer was confirmed and stability of material probed. The deposit behaves as an electrode in several electrolytic media. Better adherence of the material is achieved when deposition is performed at low temperatures (eg O degrees C). Modified electrode offers a wider potential window for several electrolytic media, oxygen evolution is minimized and Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox process is catalysed.
