Switching Reaction of Conductive Polymers .2. Application of Charge-Transfer Model to Polypyrrole
Reversible and irreversible charge-transfer models are applied to the switching reaction of polypyrrole films containing perchlorate. The films were prepared by applying an anodic potential of either 0.75 or 1.0 V (vs. sce). The peak currents and peak positions in cyclic voltammograms are used to calculate the transfer coefficient (alpha or beta) and the kinetic constants (k(r) and k(o)) using one point or multiple point fits. Using a scaling factor, the peak currents predicted by multiple point regression fall within 10% of the measurements.
