Simulation of Nonstationary Diffusion-Migration Processes in Electrochemical-Cells Using the Network Method
A network method has been used to simulate the electrical response of an electrochemical cell consisting of a binary electrolyte solution in contact with blocking electrodes. A model for the Nernst-Planck and Poisson equations describing the ionic transport in such a system has been proposed. With this model and the electric circuit simulation program PSPICE, two problems of well-known complexity, namely, the transient response of the system to a step-function applied potential difference and the small-signal ac response of this system subject to an external steady voltage bias, are simulated. The method is quite general and extremely efficient, permitting treatments of multiion systems whatever the boundary and experimental conditions may be.
