Activation Parameters for the Electrical-Conductivity of Mixed Nitrate Water-Systems, from Fused-Salts to Dilute-Solutions
The electrical conductivity of two nitrate-water systems has been measured over the water mole fraction range 0-0.98 and over temperature ranges situated between 350-385 K, at atmospheric pressure. These systems are : AgNO3-TiNO3-Cd(NO3)(2)-H2O and AgNO3-TlNO3-Ca(NO3)(2)-H2O, where the mole fractions in the anhydrous melts are : X(AgNO3) = 0.464, X(TlNO3) = 0.436 and X(M(NO3)(2))= 0.100 with M = Cd or Ca. The sets of equivalent electrical conductivity data obtained from these measurements are discussed in terms of the free energy, enthalpy and entropy of activation for this transport process. These values are found to be consistent with those for other nitrate-water systems previously studied.
