Application of current reversal chronopotentiometry and cyclic chronopotentiometry to the study of reactant and/or product adsorption at a plane electrode
A general, analytical solution applying current reversal chronopotentiometry and cyclic chronopotentiometry to a reversible charge transfer process with reactant adsorption obeying Henry's law is presented. We compare the above results with those deduced when both reactants are strongly adsorbed and either Langmuir's or Henry's isotherm is obeyed. We have considered in this last case that the successive applied currents are programmed alternating currents of the form I(t(j)) = (-1)(/+1)I(j)t(j)(omega). Criteria for distinguishing between the adsorption of the reactant, the product or both simultaneously and methods for determining adsorption parameters are proposed.
