Glass capillaries as a tool in nanoelectrochemical deposition
An electrochemical scanning probe microscope for use in electrochemistry has been developed using a small capillary tip filled with the electrolyte as a probe. Local deposition in the sub-mum-range is possible. High resolution is obtained without submerging the whole sample in the electrolyte. The exposed area is limited to the tip diameter. The technique has been used for electrochemical deposition of copper dots with diameters of 400 nm onto a polycrystalline gold surface. (C) 2002 The Electrochemical Society.
