광센서에 의한 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재료의 경화신호 측정
In-situ Monitoring of Curing of Carbon Fiber/Expoxy Composite by an Optical Fiber Sensor
초록
다중모드 광섬유 센서를 이용하여 탄소섬유/에폭시 프리프레그의 consolidation 공정시 발생되는 광신호를 검출하였고 이 신호를 경화반응에 따른 기계적 압축현상과 연관하여 해석하였다. 검출된 신호는 4구간으로 나눌 수 있는데, 이 구간들은 에폭시의 용융, 경화반응, 경화 후 응력완화 및 냉각과정 등에 의한 것으로 해석하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 다중모드 광섬유는 복합재료의 경화특성 연구에 사용될 수 있으며, 특히 비파괴적인 In-situ 시험에 적합한 방법이라고 믿어진다.
Light signal generated during the curing process of carbon fiber/epoxy composite has been detected by an internally embedded multimode optical fiber sensor The observed signal is then interpreted in conjunction with the mechanical compression behavior of the fiber/matrix composite system by the cure reaction of the epoxy resin matrix during curing process. The detected signal could be characterized by the flowing of epoxy, the crosslinking reaction, stress release after crosslinking reaction and the cooling process. Therefore, a multimode optical fiber can be utilized as a sensor for an in-situ monitoring of the characteristics of fiber-reinforced composites under curing process.
