Electricity audit for the household sector of the capital city of Jordan, Amman
Electricity generation in Jordan is among the largest sectors of energy consumption of primary energy. The electricity audit at hand is a case study with the objective of identifying the major areas of electricity consumption of the different income groups of the population of Amman. The approach used in the case study can also be useful to other developing countries. Comfort conditioning (26%), food reservation (19.1%), illumination (19%), and water heating (13.1%) are found to be the leading sectors of electricity consumption. The potential of benefitting from available renewable energy resources to alleviate electricity consumption is discussed.
