Growth and spectral characteristics of Yb3+-doped LiLa(MoO4)(2) crystal
A Yb3+-doped LiLa(MoO4)(2) crystal with dimension of phi 20 x 35 mm(3) has been grown by the Czochralski method. The polarized optical absorption and emission spectra of the crystal have been investigated. The Yb3+ :LiLa(MoO4)(2) crystal has a broad absorption FWHM of 29 mn at 977 nm. The absorption cross-sections of the crystals are 1.93 x 10(-20) Cm-2 and 1.56 x 10(-20) Cm-2 at 977 nm for pi- and sigma-polarization, respectively. The emission cross-sections of the crystals are 1.53 x 10(-20) and 1.00 X 10(-20)Cm(2) at 1011 nm for pi-and sigma-polarization, respectively. The radiative lifetime and fluorescence lifetime of the Yb 3+ :LiLa(MO04)2 crystal are 391 and 636ps, respectively. The laser performance parameters beta(min), I-past, and I-min of the crystal have been calculated. The investigated results shown the Yb3+ :LiLa(MOO4)(2) crystal is expected as a potential solid-state laser crystal materials. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
