Energy conservation in the Russian manufacturing industry -Potentials and obstacles
The in-depth energy efficiency study of a recently privatized trailer plant in the Urals shows substantial energy conservation potential. The restructuring of production can lead to a 30% reduction in energy demand. In total, energy savings of 47% of current demand can be achieved. These savings can be achieved by local means. Many of these measures are achieved at no cost or only low cost, A general lack of awareness stemming from traditional thinking and structures, compounded by a lack of financing possibilities constitute some of the most important obstacles for energy conservation in Russia.
