Transport and the environment: Can technology provide the answers?
The environmental impact arising from the worldwide development of a transport sector predominantly dependent on fossil fuels can be best addressed by promoting, in both developed and developing countries, lifestyle changes that incorporate the most efficient available vehicles. In view of the market penetration difficulties encountered so far, it is suggested that the pool of technologies capable of mitigating the foreseen impact needs to include the knowhow of the mass media community.
