Carbon dioxide savings in the commercial building sector
This paper summarises the results of an initial assessment of the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the commercial building sector of the United Kingdom, The assessment relies on information provided by the non-domestic building stock database which is currently being developed with funding from the Global Atmosphere Division of the United Kingdom Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Results are presented in the form of carbon dioxide abatement curves which rank energy efficiency measures capable of reducing carbon dioxide emissions in order of decreasing cost effectiveness, Preliminary conclusions are drawn from this work both of the relative importance of the abatement measures considered and of the need to identify additional energy efficiency measures which would be particularly suitable for the commercial building sector.
